On March 3 I posted the following on Facebook:
“Whew! 21 days, 21 chapters, 91,809 words and the first draft of The Cowboy’s Summer Love (book 3 in the Grass Valley Cowboys) is done!”
The Cowboy’s Summer Love is the story of the third Thompson brother – the wild rebel Travis. Maybe it is the wild rebel in me that never got a chance to escape it’s tightly laced confines, but I feel a really odd connection to him. In fact, I think this might be my favorite of the three stories about the Triple T Ranch.
The first story, The Cowboy’s Christmas Plan, was a lot of fun to write because the characters were all new to me. I had a blast developing them and sharing the story of Trey, Cady, and Cass. We learn in that story that Travis and Trey share more similarities than they do with the third Thompson brother, Trent.
The Cowboy’s Spring Romance told the story of Trent and Lindsay. Although Travis is on an even keel through most of this book, some splutterings of his rowdy behavior burst out on occasion.
So in Travis’ story, you get to meet him in all his unpredictable glory and find out about Tess, the girl he loves from a distance.
I sent the story off to my proofreaders last week and am currently going through the story again myself. Which means I’m changing, deleting and adding as I go. Right now, the word count is just over 95,000.
My plan is to have The Cowboy’s Summer Love available in early May. Stay tuned!
