The Unlikely Wife by Debra Ullrick is a light and easy read with a feel-good ending.
Michael Bowen has corresponded with a woman he thinks will be everything he’s ever dreamed of in a wife. Marrying sight unseen, by proxy, she arrives wearing trousers and packing a gun, looking more like an outlaw than the genteel lady he thinks he’s wed.
Feeling tricked and betrayed, Michael takes Selina Farleigh Bowen home with him, not certain what to do with the woman.
Selina is as shocked as Michael to discover the friend she trusted to correspond with Michael on her behalf clearly led him to believe she was an entirely different sort of woman. Deciding she won’t change, even for the man she has married, they both discover love leading them in directions they didn’t think they would go.
An inspirational, historical read, this is a pleasant story with enjoyable characters that I very much enjoyed.
