2023 National Clean Your Desk Day

I shared this post last year, but it’s worth taking a look at again – especially if one of your goals for the year is to get your desk space clean!

Admittedly, I’m a bit of a neat freak and can’t stand it when my desk or office space is a mess.

If your desk and work space looks like a disaster zone, it might be a good time to clean things up for National Clean Your Desk Day!

You can apply the same rules to any area of your home, garage, office, etc., that could use some tidying and organizing.

A good rule of  to follow: if a thing is not beautiful, does not bring you joy, or serve a purpose – get rid of it! If it fits one of these three categories, find a place for it, and keep it in its place.

How many of us have things cluttering up our lives that don’t have a purpose, are no longer beautiful, or fail to bring us joy? I know I can think of a few right off the top of my head.

Do you have things that are broken and not repairable that you keep around? Do you have items that make you frown when you look at them? Get rid of them! Do you have a to-do pile you’ve been ignoring? Start checking things off the list and get the burden of them off your desk and out of your head.

Don’t let things pile up. Clutter (both mental and physical)  takes our positive energy and runs it through the shredder. The space around us should give us good vibes, not make us dread being there.

Start with one area of your desk and then keep going until you have gone through every thing, getting rid of what you don’t need, organizing what you do. When you clear out all that extra stuff, it’s like dumping a bunch of unwanted, unneeded baggage that just weighs you down. Once all that clutter is gone, take a deep breath and look around at all the room you have to welcome new things into your life that do bring you joy, that have a purpose, or bring you beauty!

Here’s to a clean desk and a more organized year in the year ahead!
