I belong to a couple of organizations for writers.
This weekend, there was a heated discussion about what to include in the backs of books.
Some argued for including an excerpt or teaser for the next book (especially if it is part of a series).
Some thought it fine to include blurbs about other books, or at least a list of books.
Others thought the last page of the book should be the last page of the story.
I know I always like to find more info at the back, like a note from the author, some detail about the book. If I enjoyed the story, I like to know what other books the author has written, what new titles to watch for.
And the surest way to get me thinking about a new book coming out by the author is to tease me with just enough of an excerpt to get me interested and wanting to read more.
What about you?
Do you like more info or less?
Excerpts or not?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject.
