Today is the birthday of someone very near and dear to my heart – my Aunt Robbie.
Every girl needs someone like Aunt Robbie in their life. Since her birthday and mine were close together (and since she had two boys both older than me), I always felt a little like “her girl.” Aunt Robbie is my dad’s sister and they share many similar characteristics.
She’s fun, and spunky, and sassy. I’ve yet to see her look anything but classy and put together. She loves family, is a loyal friend, knows how to really listen, and always make you feel important and loved.
I really want to be her when I grow up! (And this photo is back from my high school days – so don’t laugh too hard).
This is Aunt Robbie with my cousin, Julie, another one of her “adopted” daughters. Over the years, Aunt Robbie has pulled four of us cousins under her wings and I have to tell you, it’s a great place to be. Several times, the five of us have met at a chosen location for a few days of shopping, laughs, and general silliness. It does a heart, mind, and body good.
And even though this photo is out of focus, it reminds me of a really fun trip we took together.
I don’t think I’m going to be able to swing our annual getaway this year, but I’ll be thinking of the rest of them when they go (and admittedly pouting that I’m missing out on the Gallivanting Goddesses Getaway).
So for today, I want to wish my beloved Aunt Robbie the happiest of birthdays and many, many wonderful days (and years) ahead.
Love, love you, auntie!
