“Sorry I’m late!” A man called as he crossed the platform. “Welcome to Holiday, Miss Schuster.”

Cora Lee felt at a loss of words as she watched a rancher approach. He doffed his hat and offered her a welcoming smile. Tall, handsome, and old enough to be her father, she wanted to hide behind Anne, or maybe R.C. as the man rushed toward them.

R.C. moved in front of Anne, then reached out to shake the rancher’s hand. “Afternoon, Grant. Come to collect Jude’s bride?”

“Yep.” The man shook R.C.’s hand with enthusiasm, then turned to Cora Lee. “Miss Schuster, I’m Grant Coleman, Jude’s pa. I got tied up on the ranch and couldn’t get away to greet you earlier. I hope you haven’t been waiting long.”
