“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13
Today is Veteran’s Day.
A day many are excited about because it means schools are closed, or their place of employment is closed for the day.
To me, it is a day to remember the heroes who have sacrificed so much for our country. To honor them for what they willingly gave.
I can’t think of anything braver than the men and women who step forward to preserve our freedom, even if the face of grave, great danger.
Audie Murphy was an actor, but he was also a war hero during World War II. In fact, Murphy was one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II. He received every military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism. I love this quote from him about bravery.
From the research I’ve done for my Hearts of the War series, that sentiment of being determined to do a job what has to be done one was held by so many… not just the soldiers but those on the home front, too.
May today honor those who so bravely gave of themselves in a job they knew had to be done.
