I’m knee-deep in my next novel and working on developing the characters in the story.
(Yes, I will post more about the book in a while – stay tuned).
How do you get in the heads of these characters and figure out their thoughts and feelings. How do you create dialog that fits with who they are.
One great way I’ve found to get some fresh character ideas is to go where you can find a large assortment of people and watch them. Study their behavious, their mannerisms, how they walk and talk and interact with others.
It is a fabulous way to spark your creativity and get those writing juices flowing.
Go to a mall, library, bus stop or community event. Take a notepad and see if you don’t come up with some fun character ideas.
At the very least, you’ll be entertained.
