This maple tree in our front yard was a small tree when we moved into our home more than a decade ago. The next year, we noticed the trunk splitting and it looked diseased, but we didn’t remove it then. Captain Cavedweller dosed it with a variety of tree medicine and we went on our merry way.
Last year, the branches started growing into the power lines and we knew we needed to have it trimmed.
One day a few weeks ago, I noticed how far the branches had stretched over in the power lines (which you can’t really see in this photo), so I called a few tree trimming/removal places to get bids. The price difference in having the tree removed and trimmed was minimal, so we decided to take out the tree and start over with something that won’t grow as tall and will (hopefully) stay disease free.
Yesterday, the crew came and spent four hours taking out the tree.
This is what it looks like now… a pile of wood chips and dirt.
I’m really, really going to miss my lovely maple tree, but I’m also looking forward to planting something new.
Do you have a favorite type of tree you’d recommend?
