I so needed the above quote this morning.
Really, I did.
This weekend, someone I care about greatly decided I was going to do something and failed to take into account that I might not be able to follow through on the plans they made without first consulting me. So, when I told them that I wouldn’t be able to do what they wanted me to, they were not very happy with me, to say the least.
In fact, I may have hung up the phone feeling hurt and upset. I didn’t want to disappoint them, but I couldn’t do as they asked no matter how much I wanted to.
By the time Captain Cavedweller arrived home from work, I was still mulling over what had transpired. Of course, he gave me one of his awesome pep talks, but I still was thinking about how a little grace would have gone a long way (both from the person making demands of me and me giving some back to them).
So, for today, I want to live in grace and walk in love. That’s it. Pretty simple – but oh, what a wonderful way to go through a day.
