It’s just a little paragraph I wrote that other writers can use as a springboard. I had fun creating it and have thought of a few story ideas that could spring from this little sample.

Dust, thick and powdery, filled her nose and burned her eyes as she struggled to her feet. With the day she’d experienced, it made perfect sense that her horse would panic at the sight of a rabbit and buck her off. Watching as the lame-brained cayuse beat a hasty retreat back to the ranch, Nell rose to her feet and brushed at the dust covering the back of her riding skirt. Waving a hand in front of her face to dispel the dust, she rolled back her shoulders and started the long walk home. She’d taken only a few steps when the sound of pounding hooves made her glance over her shoulder and release a long-suffering sigh. Although she thought her day couldn’t get any worse, she’d been wrong. Of all the days to catch sight of her handsome neighbor, it would have to be this one.
