Bacon Cheeseburger Salad

When the weather is hot, we like to make a meal out of a salad. One of our favorites is hamburger salad. Of course, since everything is better with bacon and cheese, it’s technically a bacon cheeseburger salad.

It’s easy to make, quick to put together, and so good on a warm (or scorching) summer evening.

The ingredients are simple. Just think what you’d include when you’re building a hamburger (but I like olives in mine!) Brown your ground beef and set aside.  Wash and chop lettuce. Wash and slice tomatoes. Slice pickles. Ranch dressing is my favorite but you can use whatever you prefer.

Chop bacon into bite-sized pieces and bake in a 425-degree oven for about 10 minutes.

Or until the bacon is a crispy pan of deliciousness.

Combine all ingredients and serve!

YIELD:

Serves approximately four

INGREDIENTS:

Hamburger Salad

1 pound ground beef

6 slices of bacon

2 tomatoes

8 cups lettuce

1/2 cup chopped dill pickles

1/2 cup shredded cheese

1/2 cup salad dressing

1/2 cup olives

salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Wash and prepare lettuce, chop tomatoes, chop pickles, shred cheese (your choice. We like cheddar, Colby-Jack, and mozzarella.) and set aside. Chop bacon into bite-sized pieces and bake in 425-degree oven for 10-15 minutes, until bacon is crispy.

While bacon is cooking, crumble ground beef into a skillet on medium heat. Add your favorite spices and cook until meat is browned.

Combine ingredients in one large bowl are allow everyone to layer their own salad. Top with your favorite salad dressing and enjoy!
