One thing I’ve learned over the years is that how we think is how we will be.
In other words, if our thoughts are focused on happy, positive things we’ll be happy and positive. If we allow our thoughts to linger in the negative, discontented, unhappy thoughts, that is exactly what we will be.
Taking our thoughts captive and taking control of them isn’t an easy thing, especially if we’re used to letting them run rampant.
Like any habit, though, we can break away from the bad thoughts and center our attention on the good. It just takes a practice and a little mindful effort.
Think of the happiest things
It’s the same as having wings
I don’t know about you, but for me negative thoughts always came so easily. My head was a minefield of “what ifs” and painful self-talk. Yet, once I realized I could change those thoughts by replacing them with happy ones, my thoughts (and me) started to change.
Focusing on the happy isn’t something you can stop doing, though. Negativity breeds around us like those nasty old wire coat hangers in the back of the closet. We are surrounded by negative news, negative attitudes, negative people. That’s why we have to make an effort every single day to focus on the good, the positive, and the happy.
It does get easier, the more you practice.
And when you learn to think happy thoughts, it can truly give you wings. You’ll be soaring in no time.
To get you started, here’s a little reminder how you can fly from Peter Pan…
