It’s a pretty special day at our house today.
Captain Cavedweller is celebrating his birthday!

There are presents. I baked is favorite cake. And we’re heading out to eat at one of his favorite places for lunch.
But what I wanted to share today isn’t about the traditional trappings of a birthday.
It’s about what a neat guy I married.
I think it sums it up well in this little story:
Yesterday, we were driving home from Seattle and stopped for lunch. While we were eating, it started to rain. By the time we were ready to leave, rain was pouring down in sheets. We stood at the restaurant door for a minute, then he said, “Wait here. I’ll go get the car.” And he did. He ran out in that rain that was blinding, across to the far side of the parking lot. A father and his teenage son had come out and when CC ran off to get the car, the man turned to me and said, “He’s really quite a gentleman, isn’t he?” I smiled and agreed.
Because he is.
Most people look at my guy and see someone tall and burly. But kids and dogs love him. They know he’s got the heart of a marshmallow.
And I love him, too!
Every day, I count myself blessed to know him and be loved by him.
So today is the day to celebrate him and celebrate the wonderful man that he is.
Happy, Happy Birthday, CC!
Love you always and forever!
