National Library Card Sign Up Month

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month!

When I was young, my mom would take me to the county library once a month where I would check out the maximum number of books allowed (I think it was twelve). I’d take them home, devour them, and anxiously await our next trip into town so I could go to the library and get more books!

During my college years, I practically lived at the county library. It wasn’t far from the college and had far better research resources than the campus library. After a few weeks, I think every librarian knew me by name.

Sadly, after I married and moved away, I got busy with life and work and never got a new library card.

But I got one a few months ago and have once again been enjoying the library and all they have to offer.

If you don’t have a library card, take a few minutes to stop by your local library and get one! You might be surprised by all that is offered through them.

Here’s to books and the readers who enjoy them, and the libraries that offer them!
