National Novel Writing Month Update 2

Here I am 14 days into the NaNoWriMo challenge and I’m woefully behind where I should be.

I even challenged myself to be at 15,000 words by today.

The good news is I have made progress. Last Monday my word count was 650.

The bad news is I didn’t meet by challenge. By a long shot.

As of this morning, my word count is right at 8,700.

So I must kick it into high gear and get busy writing.

I’m attacking a new genre for me with this project and it really is a bit of a stretch for me. Okay, it is a lot of a stretch for me, which is why the writing is taking longer than anticipated. I seem to spend as much time researching as I am writing. And yes, I probably should have researched everything before I started writing, but that would completely undermine the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants rush I get from desperately trying to find facts in the middle of writing a paragraph.

Sorry, it’s just how things are rolling this month.

Stay tuned next week to see if I am making progress. Remember… I’m supposed to have  50,000 words minimum by Nov. 30.
