I thought I would share a quick update on the publishing process with this book.
I uploaded it Saturday, Nov. 5 on Amazon, Smashwords and Barnes & Noble. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again… if you are interested in self-publishing digitally, go to Smashwords and download their user guide. Read every single word all the way through the guide, then read it again. Follow the directions step by step. If you do this, you won’t have any problem uploading your book in any format.
I do format the book just a little different for Kindle, but I start with the Smashwords format and tweak it. It probably takes me less than 10 minutes to make the changes.
Amazon, by far, is outselling the other two with Barnes & Noble coming in second. Amazon provides some great charts, reports and graphs that really make it simple and easy to track your progress.
My Savvy Entertaining book I uploaded Oct. 27 to Smashwords and Amazon. My ultimate goal is to have this free in all outlets. Right now it is 99 cents on Amazon and I have sold a whopping single copy of it.
It is free on Smashwords and here on my website. Smashwords has had a respectable number of downloads. I am impatiently waiting for it to show up on Barnes & Noble listed as free and then the plan is that it will eventually be listed as free on Amazon.
So why do I want to give away all my secret holiday entertaining success tips for free?
Because I want people to have access to the tips and tricks that make entertaining so much easier. I like to share this info, really I do. If you haven’t discovered my savvyentertaining.com blog, you’ll see just what I mean when you visit there.
I also know the guide listed as free will help drive traffic to my holiday book – so yes, there is a self-serving side to the free. But not the only side. I honest to goodness do enjoy sharing that I know about entertaining.
So there you have it.
In a nutshell, things are going well and I need to learn to have a bit more patience than I currently possess.
