Will Rogers Medallion Award

I recently received a Will Rogers Medallion Award in the mail. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was to open the black velvet box and find this inside!

For those who aren’t familiar, Will Rogers was a well-loved writer and cowboy entertainer. His work (and life) demonstrated the traditions and values of the American cowboy.

The Will Rogers Medallion Award was created to recognized quality works of cowboy poetry that honored his heritage. Over time, the awards were expanded to include other works of Western literature and film, including children’s books and romance.

The awards ceremony takes place annually in Fort Worth, Texas.

My children’s book, Steve the Mule, placed third in the Western Fiction- Younger Readers, Illustrated category.

If you haven’t yet read the book, check it out!
